Best Goalkeepers in Serie A – Week 13

A week with some massive matches and some surprising results. Let’s take a look at the five goalkeepers that fared better: only three of them gained points.

1) Samir Handanovic: after three games where they had conceded at least a goal, Inter earned the seventh clean sheet of the season against Atalanta. The guests were not particularly threatening in this one, so Handanovic’s work was limited on Sunday night. He closed in on Alisson as top performer in his position.

2) Mattia Perin: Genoa won on the road in Davide Ballardini’s debut, defeating Crotone one-nil. It qualifies as a surprise because the Griffon had struggled in away games so far this season, but they were stout in Sunday’s lunch match and all in all the Sharks did not bother Perin too much, who had a total of five saves, generally easy ones.

3) Rafael: another shocking result, as Udinese had been solid at home, while Cagliari were coming off three straight losses on the road. It was a back and forth, especially in the first half, and Rafael had few decent saves. Cagliari’s defence tightened up later on and they managed to come away with a crucial win. He replaced Alessio Cragno due to injury, but he could have a chance to maintain the starting job.

4) Stefano Sorrentino: he was among the goalkeepers that managed to not lose points. He deserves the nod because he saved a Belotti penalty late in the game and preserved the 1-1. He had a superb save of Iago Falque as well. The veteran goalie is putting together yet another good season.

5) Andrea Consigli: he was another one who had a zero, which is positive for goalkeeper. He had a couple of monster saves against Benevento, especially when the result was still tied, and could do nothing more on the opponent’s equalizer. Sassuolo had a crazy win on Sunday.
